A few days before Halloween, I did a Christmas Card photo shoot for mom with Addie and Mallory. I took photos of them in a lot of different outfits (much to Addie's dismay, and my little fashionista Mallory's joy)...One of the photo choices was of them in their Halloween costumes that Mom made them. Mallory was Dorothy this year because one of the first words that she learned and used consistently was dog. She loves doggies, and I tried to think of a costume that she would need to have a dog with. So she had a little Toto dog in a basket and of course her favorite red sparkly shoes! Here are a few of Mallory on the day of the photo shoot.
She absolutely loved her costume! And it's a good thing, because she went Trick or Treating THREE times! Her daycare took her to the county buildings the Friday before Halloween, and the courthouse on Halloween. When we got home from daycare on Wednesday she was super excited. Especially when she saw all of the candy.
After eating dinner (pizza!!), it was time to get dressed up in her costume. She saw me pull it out, and she got super excited again! She grabbed her basket with Toto and ran out of the door.
We Trick or Treated around the cul-de-sac before coming back inside. She said please and thank you at a few houses. I am so proud of her manners lately! When we got back inside, she quickly sat down and started sorting her candy. All I could think of was Seriously?!? Sorting already? She's a Halloween pro! She found what she wanted....a Kit Kat (Mommy's Girl!), and so I let her have it.
Each time the doorbell rang she got super excited. She does this thing where she holds her breath. Mom says it sounds like someone who is having a stroke and can't breathe (stridor). Everytime I seriously have to check to make sure she's okay. Everytime the door rang, she did that holding her breath thing, stopped what she was doing, and ran to the door. She helped me hand out candy. (I'm telling you, she's a professional!) After a little while, we went back outside. She walked a little closer to Justin's set up across the street. Strobe lights, and men in scary masks kinda freak me out too. She didn't cry or scream, she just watched him trying to figure out what was going on.
We said night night to our pumpkin, and then headed off to bed.
She had an AMAZING night and I have to say I loved every moment of it. To see such joy in your child's eyes is what it's all about.
