Adventures in Baby Food

I decided since Mallory was still pretty young for solids that we would stick to rice cereal longer than the 3 day "trial of new food" period.  But this week we have made the adventure into applesauce.  Our pediatrician said that that should be her next food.  I find it amazing how many different opinions that you get from people.  From when to start feeding solids, what solids to feed them, vegetables vs. fruits.  I'm sorry, but as long as she is happy and healthy I don't really think that veggies or fruits really matter.   Anyway, her pediatrician said start with applesauce, so I made some...with my new Baby Bullet!  (Yup, I'm pretty excited!)

I started out boiling two organic Honeycrisp apples.

After they were tender, I drained them.  I added half of the apple mixture to my small batch mixer with 1/4 cup of water.

Then, I placed it onto the baby bullet processor and let it puree until it was smooth and creamy!
After it was finished, I placed it into the individual serving containers and twisted to the date made.  Super easy!

I am excited about making my own baby food.  Our next adventure (after a week of applesauce) is going to be sweet potatoes.

If taking the spoon away from me so that she can feed herself is any indication of the babyfood, I think Mallory likes the applesauce!
