Popsicles and Sippy Cups

We are slowly entering the world of big kid eating.  Over the past few weeks, we have introduced a few new things into Mallory's routine.  For Christmas, she got a teething net in her stocking.  I'm not completely sure that she's teething yet.  Some days I'm certain a tooth will have emerged when we wake up, and other days I'm just not sure.  (I think it's the frequent waking up lately that's making me think it more than anything.) Regardless, I've been making pear puree and freezing it into ice cube trays.  She loves her "pear popsicles" as we've been calling them.

This past week we started using a sippy cup at dinner time.  We tried a regular sippy cup for a few days, but it ended up on the floor more than anything else.  So...I found one with a straw for her age.  It is much easier for her to drink out of.  At this point though, she likes playing with it more than anything else.  I just want the transition to a cup to be as easy as possible.

She has also started to use her pacifier a lot more infrequently.  I'm glad that she's not too dependent on it.  She still uses it for sleeping, and I use it when we go to the doctor for shots, but she's definitely more into chewing on toys and giggling lately than putting a pacifier in her mouth.

I can't believe how much she has grown up in the past month alone.  From a wobbly supported sitter to sitting on her own.  From bottles as a main meal to eating solids three times a day. She has almost figured out how to pull herself up, and so we'll be lowering the crib and pack-n-play soon. We are also going to start finger foods soon, as she keeps trying to grab at our food when we are eating.  I can't believe that in a few weeks she will be 8 months old.  It just doesn't seem possible.
